I-TAC is Service Provider of the Year 2012

I-TAC has been recognised for its exceptional provision of key services and support to today's chemical production sector and industry in the North West. The competition was fierce at the 2012 Chemicals Northwest Awards, with many world-class companies representing the cream of the chemicals sector.

Award judge and Chemicals Northwest Operations Manager, Duncan Simcock said that within I-TAC there was "clearly a sense of overall contribution to the region and the sector."

As a business incubator facility, I-TAC's commitment to enabling small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to achieve success and impact in their area of expertise clearly supports the Chemicals Northwest SME agenda.

The judges were also looking for an overall high rate of success, which they felt I-TAC had achieved through the number of businesses it supports and opportunities created for its tenants. Over the past two years, I-TAC has actively supported 24 companies, resulting in five new products to reach the market, eight patent applications, and two licences. Furthermore, 34 new jobs have been created within I-TAC companies, and training has been provided to 29 individuals and six placement students.

There was further success as Byotrol (link opens in a new window), an I-TAC tenant, won the Innovation Award for Innovative Product or Service. Byotrol is continually working towards its goal of becoming the world's leading anti-microbial technology provider. This award reflects their team's success in producing a commercially viable product with demonstrable social and economic benefits.

I-TAC is now proud to be a double award-winning company, after winning Best Service Provider at the UK Energy Innovation Awards 2011. The I-TAC team are now working hard to expand and setting their sights firmly on more success in the future.
